Still running ...but looking onto ??

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12: 1-2 (New King James Version)

Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare ? Well here is a similar story with a little twist. At the starting line there were several hares and the tortoise . At the sound of the start gun they all started running. As they were running one hare noticed a pretty rabbit walking towards another road and so he decided to take a detour and continued running . Another hare as he was running saw a huge pile of money and he took a detour . In a similar manner all the hares one by one took detours , some setting their sights on jobs , some on hobbies that excited them … The tortoise however kept looking straight ahead at the goal and ran on to complete the race.

A lot of us are like the hares. We still continue running. But we have forgotten what we were running to !! We were meant to be running the race that is set before us looking unto Jesus. A lot of us still continue running but looking onto different things of this world. We have gotten side tracked and are busy running towards other things and for other things and some of us don’t even realize it.

Lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily ensnares us’ – May this be our decision today
Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith’ – May this be our daily prayer
Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God ‘ - May we never forget the price that was paid for us

I can never be 'not guilty' , I can only be 'Forgiven!'

“There was a certain creditor who had two debtors. One owned five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. And when they had nothing with which to repay, he freely forgave them both. Tell Me, therefore, which of them will love him more?” Simon answered and said, “I suppose the one whom he forgave more.” And He said to him, “You have rightly judged.”

Luke 7 : 41-43 (New King James Version)

We read from verses 36 -39 , “Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat. And behold, a woman in the city who was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at the table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of fragrant oil, and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and she began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head; and she kissed His feet and anointed them with the fragrant oil. Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke to himself, saying, “This Man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what manner of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner.”

Now this man was a Pharisee, but when he saw the woman he considered himself to be o so much holy when compared to her. Do we take that kind of stand in our daily lives ? Yes we have Christ residing within us. But when we see other people coming to seek Christ do we take a “I am so much more holier” stand ? Do we let self pride enter our lives ? Do we let self righteousness govern our thoughts ?

We need to understand one thing … when we stand at the white throne judgment there is not going to be a GUILTY and NOT GUILTY sentenced passed. Do you know why ? Because we all are guilty . We all have fallen short . God is so Holy and His standards are so high. Looking at someone in lust is the equivalent of committing adultery. A lie is a lie. And sin is sin. We are no one to judge “Oh this sin is not as big as that” . Sin is sin !
I believe that the two states we will see is GUILTY and FORGIVEN !! (just think about this for a while )

1 John 1:9 , “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Wow ! What a joy to be forgiven. And when we are forgiven , the love we have for Him just grows by the moment. And you know what ? Its personal. It’s an intimate understanding between you and God. Being forgiven in Christ does not mean we take a judgmental stand. Being forgiven is that we understand its only His grace and His love and His mercy that sustains us. That should automatically take us of that lofty judgmental position that we like to stand upon sometimes.

We read in verses 41-43 that there was a certain creditor and he had two debtors. And they both owed him money. One 500 denarii and another 50. And the creditor forgave them both. We read that this passage is only about two things 1. The forgiveness of the creditor 2.The love of the debtor. It has nothing to do with oh one debtor was better than the other or that one did not deserve to be forgiven or anything of that nature.

And that is the same view we need to keep in mind. Praise God for His forgiveness. Our Holy God , the great I AM loves us , He has forgiven us. Its not for us to be turning around and saying “Oh I am better off than you because I only needed XYZ sin forgiven and not ABC”. Nope. It’s about Him and its about the love relationship that is between us and Him.

I pray that we come down from our forever judgmental perspectives and may the Lord open our eyes to see Him and bless our hearts with a love that overflows for Him.

Have we put on the whole armor ?

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Ephesians 6: 11-12 (New King James Version)

The question that crosses almost everyone’s minds in the morning , “What do I wear today ?” . And so many factors tend to play a part in this decision. Do I have the time to iron it ? Or do I pick something already ironed ? For some people, the clothes need to pass the ‘Sniff’ test ! They pick their clothes in their hands and press it up against the nose and go ‘Snifffffffff’ and if they can stand it , then its good to go ! Well whichever way we pick our clothes , we do spend time thinking what do we wear for the day . And then we spend time getting dressed after that. And this is surely an almost every day event .

We read that in days when people used armors (shields and swords…) in battle , then the soldiers who were lower in rank got less armor. They would probably get just a sword, or in some cases a shield and a sword. The soldiers in higher rank would get the entire armor (breast plates, helmet …). The word of God says we are to put on the WHOLE armor of God. Not part .. Not just the helmet of salvation. The whole armor !

We spend a considerable amount of time with regards to what we wear . Do we prepare ourselves in putting on the whole armor of God ? We read in verse 12, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places

It’s a 24*7 battle. Are we prepared ?

We know how drastically rain makes most us decide ‘No light colored pants’ . If the weather becomes all windy and cold , then we decide to wear a light jacket because we decide what we currently are wearing is not sufficient enough. Interesting isn’t it how much we prepare for uncertain climatic conditions but how little we prepare spiritually.

Do we put that much preparation into putting on the full armor of God ? Every day , every moment. The devil doesn’t take a break. The demons around do not take a break. Why do we who are called to put on the whole armor of God decide to laze around ? No one puts on an armor to go to bed. They put on the armor for battle.

We read in verses 14-20, “Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak

"You give them something to eat."

“But He answered and said to them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to Him, “shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?” But He said to them, “How many loaves do you have ? Go and see.” And when they found out they said, “Five, and two fish.”

Mark 6 : 37-38 (New King James Version)

Here is a passage we are all familiar with and we have meditated on it before as well . We read in verses 31-34 , “And He said to them , “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going , and they did not even have time to eat. So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him. And Jesus , when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things.

The people saw Jesus and the disciples in the boat and they ran on foot ! Wow , just picture that. When Jesus saw the multitude He was moved with compassion because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. And He began to teach them.

When we look at people all around us , be it in our offices , our colleges , our schools and even our homes… what do we see ? Do we see the lost ? We have a shepherd ! Are our hearts moved with compassion to tell them about our Shepherd ? Do we intercede and stand in the gap for them ?

We read in verses 35-36, “When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, “This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat.”” Ok , so it’s getting late . No one has eaten and the disciples come to Christ and ask Him to send them away so that they can get something to eat. Seems logical right ? People are hungry , it’s a huge crowd , they can surely walk back and get something to eat. Totally logical !

What did Christ respond ? “You give them something to eat.” Ok …. Hmmm ok … so what’s the next logical thing to do ? Count the money that we have and let’s see how much bread we can buy ! Isn’t that the most logical thing to do ?

We read in verse 38 , “But He said to them. “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they found out they said, “Five and two fish.”

There is a multitude around us that is hungry. We need to understand God has commissioned us saying “You give them something to eat.” .

Next , if you are wondering saying . “Lord how can I tell people about you … I can’t talk properly “ , “ Lord you know my situation , my circumstance .. am I an ideal testimony?” Or if you find yourself in a tough spot saying ‘Lord I have no idea how I can meet the current need . It’s not logical” … we need to understand our God is not limited by logic !! We often find ourselves limiting God because of our limited minds. I pray that we be set free this morning .

God always provisions the right amount in the right time. His ways are perfect !

Logically what are five loaves and two fish in a crowd of five thousand men plus women and children ? Nothing.

What are five loaves and two fish in the hand of God ? We read in verses 41-43 , “And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. So they all ate and were filled. And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.

In His hands its surplus !! We read they all ate and were filled ! And it does not stop there… they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish.

I pray that our eyes may be opened to see that God had provisioned for us exactly what we need. All we have to do is lift up all that we are and all that we have into His hands. And when everything is in His hands.. its beyond logic. The multitude around us is hungry and God had provisioned exactly what is required to meet the need. Are we willing to walk in His ways ? Are we willing to be used by Him ? Are we willing to let go of certain logical barriers that are a spiritual hindrance in our lives ?

God Bless

Let us not be found as deceivers

“”But cursed be the deceiver who has in his flock a male, and takes a vow, but sacrifices to the Lord what is blemished – For I am a great King says the LORD of hosts, And My name is to be feared among the nations.”

Malachi 1: 14 (New King James Version)

When we read about sacrifices in the old testament , we read consistently about how the animals that were sacrifices were unblemished. In other words , it was the best of the flock that was given. This verse basically says that cursed is a man who takes a vow and sacrifices a blemished offering when there is an unblemished male in the flock.

You and I have taken a stand to live this life for Christ and live by His holy word. We are a living sacrifice. When we offer up ourselves to Him , do we give God our best or do we give God the blemished ? Here is a quick example…We have 24hours in a day. Which part of our day do we give to God ? Do we give Him the best or do we give Him what’s left over ? May we not be found as deceivers in the sight of God. We have vowed to love the Lord with all our heart , mind and strength. May we give Him the best and not the blemished.

This is a familiar verse , Romans 12:1-2 , “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

In the Old testament , what happened when a sacrifice was offered unto God and was found acceptable in the sight of the Lord ? It was consumed completely by fire. There was no trace of the original sacrifice. And that is exactly what needs to happen to us. Be completely consumed by Him.

When we offer ourselves to the Lord as a sacrifice we need to understand that we are saying ‘Lord none of me but all of You . Transform me , renew me , refine me ‘

I know I have mentioned this before , but would like to say it again , It is much easier to say ‘Lord I need more of You’ than to say ‘Lord take all of me’. It is time for complete surrender

I pray that we may not be found deceivers in the sight of God. I pray that we will strengthen one another and encourage one another to spend time in His presence and to give God our very best, an unblemished sacrifice.

God Bless

May we not forget who we are

“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”

I Peter 2 : 9-10 (New King James Version)

A colleague of mine had gone to Vegas and described it saying ‘It is truly sin city… It is paradise’. It was so saddening to hear that , to hear someone say that sin is the equivalent of paradise. How the devil has blinded the eyes of so many !!

However there are some of us , who once were blind but now our eyes have been opened by God. But yet we choose to close them !! Some of us who have tasted and seen how amazing the love and grace of God is , but yet we choose to close our eyes to the work of His hand in our lives. When we really ought to be waking up in the morning and thanking God for He has blessed us to see a new day by His grace and for His glory , instead we close our eyes to His grace and focus on things of this world. When we pick up our toothbrush , when we look into the mirror , we close our eyes and don’t see how wonderfully we have been made by God in His image, how blessed we are that we are in good health … We close our eyes and just don’t see.

Two appointments await us in the morning … 1: An appointment with the King of kings , to worship Him and sit in His presence, 2: Work/Housework/School/College. We choose to close our eyes to the King of kings and focus on things of this world as our top priority. As the Lord was teaching me this I realized that in so many instances I am in a much more sadder state than my colleague. God has brought us into the light and yet we say , “No no , I am going to keep my eyes closed when it suits me”

Are we choosing to close our eyes shut to the things of God? Have we shut our eyes tight so much that we do not even choose to see His hand of grace upon our lives ?

A lot of times we don’t see because we never bothered to open our eyes and behold. Don’t get caught up in the darkness.

We read in today’s verse, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” We get so caught up in things of this world that we forget who we are. We have been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. I pray that the Lord will touch us and may our eyes be opened to Him.

God Bless

Let your light shine !

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. "

II Corinthians 12: 9 (New King James Version)

My mom was diagnosed with stage two cancer . She has just finished her surgery and her Chemo sessions start on Monday. Right from day 1 of the diagnoses my Mom has been saying one thing , ‘God’s in charge. And if He has allowed this , this is for His glory’ . Its one thing saying . It’s a whole different thing living it. But I thank God that His grace sustained my Mom and my Mom submitted completely to His will. I have been hearing such awesome testimonies. My mom keeps telling people ‘This is not the Cancer Unit, this is the Christ Unit’ . And true enough by His grace that’s what it became. People who came to visit my mom thinking they would have to cheer her up were surprised by the joy and strength of the Lord. People ended up opening up to my mom in tears regarding their own burdens and trials and left the ward strengthened with the word of God . Wow ! what a joy it is to hear such news.

What makes this transformation ? His grace. When we say that His grace is sufficient for us then we really need to mean it ! It is SUFFICIENT for us , meaning we really don’t need anything else. A lot of times what happens is we say ‘Yes Lord You are more than enough for me” and then we go about trying to do things our own way , try to fulfill carnal desires instead of growing in the Spirit.

There have been so many times when I have said “ok God You are in charge” and immediately after my Amen , I am busy thinking in my head , “okkkkk now what should I do to make this happen ?!! “

The difference between relying on our strength and truly submitting to His grace as our sufficiency makes the difference between the natural and the supernatural.

When my mom was discharged this Sunday the nurse carried away every single pain killer that was prescribed to her. My mom never had to take a single morphine injection at all. His grace ! Its natural to feel pain after such a surgery , its natural to take pills for pain. But when we rest on Him and know that His grace is sufficient , He transforms the natural to the supernatural. No pain !! What a testimony !

Every person who walked in to the ward saw the strength , the joy and the victory of Christ in that room ! His grace transforms it all !

His grace is sufficient for us. There is nothing more we can ever need if we just truly submit to Him . It doesn’t matter if its daily activities of getting up and going to work or handling things at home, school or college.

Let us pray that we surrender ourselves completely to Him and realize that His grace is more than enough for us , every aspect of our natural life will be a testimony to our Supernatural God !

God Bless
