Do we know the difference between bitter and sweet ?

“A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb,
But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet”

Proverbs 27 : 7 (New King James Version)

My sisters were watching an interview on a gospel channel at home and they told me about this testimony that a woman shared. And at the end of her testimony she said “There is no high like the Most High !” J Amen to that ! No getting high on drugs, alcohol,… can ever ever compare to the joy of having Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives.

Only God can satisfy ! When we have filled ourselves with Him , the word of God says that such a soul will trample (literal translation) the honeycomb. Can u imagine the difference ?

Satisfied soul -> Tramples the honeycomb itself
Hungry soul -> Perceives even bitter things to be sweet

Isn’t that sad ! Unfortunately many of us find ourselves in this sad sorry state. By satisfying our soul with things of this world…things which are an abomination to our God. Examples ? Love of Money, Sexual Immorality (remember to think lustfully is as good as committing the act itself !), Alcohol, drugs, smoking, impure or immoral desires, … giving anything or anyone else higher priority over God … and here is the best one “trading our Biblical principles to satisfy people of the world”

Every conversation is not ok, every behavior is not ok… Does what we believe in and stand for show wherever we are ? Or have we literally turned into Sunday Christians ? Only in church people know oh ok ‘this person believes in Christ’ and when we come to work not a single action of ours speaks for His glory…instead we turn to pleasing people of this world by getting involved in unwanted conversations, passing inappropriate comments , lying, …acting as though ‘oh im cool with everything ‘…

Are we satisfying our soul with things of this world ? Knowing they are actually bitter , have we drifted so far from a personal relationship with God that even the bitter things taste momentarily sweet ?

The Bible says in Proverbs 28: 13 “He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy”. It does not stop with confessing … it continues to forsaking those sins !

I pray that we will fill ourselves with things of Him, that we will be satisfied souls for His glory.

God Bless
