What will we be found doing ?

“And that servant who knew his master’s will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.”

Luke 12: 47 (New King James Version)

I would like to encourage everyone to read from their Bible the passage Luke 12: 1 – 48 . We see that there is a huge multitude that is gathered together. In verse 13 we read, “Then one from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.””. Here we have Christ himself sitting and teaching … That man from the crowd could have asked him any question… But he chose to focus on things of this world and said ‘Tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” . Interesting isn’t it .

As we keep reading the verses that follow we see Christ teaching on how worrying about things of this world are all unnecessary. There is no need for us to have an anxious mind. We read in verses 30,31 , “”For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. “But seek the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added to you.

As we continue to read on we see Christ talking about the faithful servant. He talks about the Second Coming. Lets read verses 42-46 , “And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food in due season? “Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. “Truly I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has. “But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming’ , and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, “the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.” Now, we read that the master gives the servant authority over the household and leaves. But when the master returns if the servant is found faithful ! ; that is the servant was given authority over the household to give them their portion of food in due season. Now when the master returns and if the servant is found doing so then he will be rewarded… even to the point of being made ruler of all that the master owns. However if the servant gets so self involved just because the master has not come as he had expected and if he is found not doing the master’s will then he will be severely punished.

We read in verse 47 , the servant who KNEW His master’s will and yet did not PREPARE or DO His will.

What do we find ourselves doing today ? Our own will or His will ? When we come into His presence are all our talks only about things of this world – ‘tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me’ , ‘tell my boss to promote me’, …. Or have we become truly doers of His will and His Kingdom seekers ?

God Bless
